Hi all
First post here.
I'm probably buying 2012 iMac. Have had MBP for past two years. I had some thoughts on how to organize my data with my new system.
Currently this is what I have:
I'd equip the iMac with SSD only, no other internal drive. SSD has apps and OS's. I'd use an external thunderbolt HDD and leave it connected 24/7 (is this bad?) to store movies, music, documents. This way, I have easy access with my MBP aswell. Are there any people trying such a setup as Im proposing here?
Some other thoughts when we add Win7 into the loop:
I can't have my external HDD to be formatted HFS if I want win7/bootcamp able to recognize it. Other alternative is NTFS with OSX drivers, but some other options like time capsule don't work then. Is it possible to partition my external HDD in HFS and NTFS partitions?
What I've written above is what I think would be a good solution, but basically I'm looking for ways to conveniently organize my data so I can easily exchange it between devices/OS's. I'd like some input on people running similar setups or SSD only systems.
Thanks for reading.
