Hi,

I have a lot of things in the Applications folder that I'd rather not see when opening via the shortcut on the dock. After having my iMac since October the number of Apps are starting to add up (also thanks to the App store).

There are certain Adobe things I dont need ti see. Such as Adobe Bridge CS5, device central, etc.

I use the Application's shortcut on the dock as an extension of my dock. It would be nice for it to show only the programs I want it to. Dragging a folder/file just moves it to the desktop.

Is this possible?

I'm starting to feel so unorganized and would like to fix this.

All tips and advice is appreciated. :)

  1. Create a folder somewhere called "Apps" (or whatever you want to call it)
  2. Create aliases for all the apps you use most freqently
  3. Drag those aliases into the Apps folder
  4. Drag that folder to the Dock

Another question:

Can I create a new folder and move files/folders to it? (in Applications) Would it still work or does it have to be in a certain place like on Windows?

Thanks! I'm going to try this now too.

Some apps have problems if they're moved from the Applications folder. You're better off using the alias approach.
