iPod Organizing problems...

Is there any way the size of the columns, which categories, and other organizing features can be replicated the same way on the iPod as it is in the iTunes library itself? On my iPod, I made everything to my liking (column size, categories, so on), which replicated my iTunes library. However, after each disconnect, the "default" column sizes and categories come back onto the iPod. Is there any remedy to this, other than be less neat-freakish haha? Thanks so much for your help.
