For starters, let me say that the instructions are vague at best, and nonexistent for the included thermal strip.

It kinda seems like Orico is punishing those opt to install a 3rd party SSD. I chose a 1TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus.

I've included an image from Orico's MiniDock page and one that I snapped, of the NVMe M.2 Bay.

Orico shows the bay loaded with one of their SSD's, so if they are using the thermal strip, it is on the "top side" of the SSD.

My image shows what I assume are ventilation ducts, on the surface "above" the SSD. If I attach the thermal strip to the top side of the SSD, it seems that it will block the ventilation ducts. Is that really how this is supposed to go together?

(And secondly, the SamsungMagician software only sees the Mini's internal Apple SSD; it doesn't see the Samsung SSD in the dock, even though the Mini seems to see it)

The thermal strip should be on the side facing the cover that has the thermal fins.
Make sure the NVME sits level. My Raycue dock has a poorly documented slotted screw that holds the NVME in a slot to keep it level. If you place it conventionally under the screw it is inclined away from the cover. I am not sure about the slot design on this dock.
