I still have my original iPhone along with the original box and everything that came with the phone (except the ear buds which stopped working a few years back).

I used it for 4 years and fortunately I never dropped it, so it's still in very good condition with no dents or big scratches, and the screen is still perfect. The box and other stuff still looks brand new.

I was wondering if these are collectors items at all and if there is a market to sell them?

I recently found it in my closet and took it out, and while the battery has lost most of its charge, I was able to charge it up enough to turn it on, and it still works.

I also still have the receipt from the AT&T store which shows it was purchased on June 29, 2007, which was the first day it was for sale (Yes, I was one of those crazy people who waited on line to get it!)

Any thoughts?

Original iPhone sells for more than a 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S - if still working - check eBay.

Short Answer: Yes

The phone functions, but I wonder if it can be made to work, here is why... Before I put it away 5 years ago, I did a "restore factory settings" to erase my personal data. So now when you turn on the phone, you get the message saying to connect it to iTunes. I think all the iPhones prior to the 4S required iTunes to get up and running. But can the new version of iTunes still do that?

Yes. I also have the first version in the box with everything. Bought at a lawn sale for $20. Afraid they are not worth enough to buy a singfle dinner at Ruth Chris.

I don't think any that are used will ever be worth much. A brand new one still sealed, however, will probably be worth quite a bit someday.

But there is a WORLD of difference (and tons of dollars or whatever other currency unit is applicable) between "for sale" and "sold."

Really beautiful ones in the box seem to actually SELL for $125-250. The rest, anywhere from $20-50ish, sometimes a little more.
