Original Aluminum Macbook Backlight problem

Hello,
I have an original aluminum 2.0GHz Macbook and about a week ago I noticed a weird pattern in the left bottom of the display.

Is this a backlight issue? has anyone seen this before? is it fixable or do I have to replace the entire display?
