Hope everyone has had a great Christmas and Boxing day, was hoping for a bit of help with a gift I've been given.

Because one of my friends got an improved one, he has given me his original Bose Sounddock. Its the older model which only has the ipod dock and is non-portable, but it still produces fantastic sound, far better than the £30 desktop speakers I've been using so far for my Macbook.

I've decided to try and use it as my main speakers instead of just for my ipod, and have been looking into adding Aux input to it. THere are two options, one that involves soldering and a fair bit of effort, which I'm not really inclined to.

A google search produced this method, which is what I'm going with:

My question for anyone who knows is this; the guide says that one of these,

http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Stati...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261870907&sr=1-2

and one of these,

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8V234...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261870933&sr=1-1

Need to be used so I end up with a working line in system. All I'm wondering is if I can just use any old female to female 3.5 audio adapter, or do I need to specifically use the one suggested?

Thanks in advance guys!
