good morning

My
Folks just got an iPad Pro 10.5. Mainly because they need to type some documents for work and they like the idea of a Bluetooth or Apple connected keyboard to their iPad.

They don’t like the tactile feel of the iPad keyboard magnet folio case and I was wondering if the original keyboard dock that Apple sold back in 2010 would be compatible with the 10.5 iPad Pro. Obviously the original keyboard dock used a 30 pin dock connector but I’m wondering if a lightning adapter would allow for the keyboard to work with the 10.5 iPad Pro.

If so great, if not then does anyone know the last generation that the original Apple keyboard dock works with? I’m really not hoping it the iPad 3. Thanks.

We had one of those docks - I bought it for my wife so she could use her iPad as a writing machine. It sort of worked but she never took to it. it was interesting but a proper curate’s egg, including the portrait orientation and the solid construction that made it impractical to carry around. While I like your thinking I doubt a 30-pin to lightning adapter will work, because it won’t let the iPad sit in the dock.

Why not get a magic keyboard and a Smart Cover or similar? That’s a decent option with some flexibility and no need for adapters etc.

You know, an hour ago I was gun Ho about getting the original iPad dock and an official Apple adapter and though i would still
Like to do this, for my
Folks the best set
Up may indeed be the Smart Cover and magic keyboard set up you mentioned.

That would be interesting. I had a 30-pin input to a stereo system, and I tried a 30-pin to lightning adapter. It didn't work for me, but this could be a different outcome.
