I would like to run a new app called "Xtract" (by Yamaha) on my original iPad Pro. However, the app appears to require a newer iOS version than what I currently have on my iPad Pro. It downloads and runs on my fairly old iPhone (which has a more recent iOS version on it than my iPadPro has...), but not on my iPad Pro.

I've tried updating the iOS on the iPad Pro, but it shows that I'm up-to-date. The iPhone is running Version 17.....), and the app requires Version 17. But my iPad is on Version 16.... so it doesn't allow me to download the app onto it.

Can I reasonably expect that the iPad Pro's current iOS version will be upgraded to Version 17... at some point? Or will this app mostly never be able to run on the iPad Pro?

And while I'm here, what IS the current iOS version for the original iPad Pro? (Just so I can check it against mine?)

Thanks!

No, Apple stopped supporting the original iPad Pro after iPadOS 16. The latest version is 16.7.12.

You can try downloading the latest compatible version of the app. In the App Store, go view your profile and find the list of all the apps you've downloaded or purchased in the past. If there's a cloud icon next to the app, you can download the latest compatible version. It will be an older version of that app. If there isn't one, then you're out of luck and would need to upgrade your iPad.

At this point Apple won’t support you iPad Pro anymore. But considering its age, maybe it is due to an update, since you are apparently still using it.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, it's a brand new app, so there is no older version. And I don't use my iPad Pro enough to justify an upgrade....

Thanks.
