Does anybody know the best place to have the metal case replaced on the original iPhone? My wife dinged the one we have slightly and it is annoying me. I don't use the phone but would like to keep one in as close to pristine condition as possible. Weird..I know.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I was just in an Apple store and they said an out of warranty replacement was available for £99 if you want to go that route?

my friend bought his on ebay, and it was original and in good condition.

BTW, i'd like to buy your old case when you swap it out:cool:

They are doing the same thing here in the US, and it gives me slight piece of mind I do not have to pay upwards of $599 to replace the screen on my iPhone 3G, instead they charge a flat rate $199 for an out of warranty fixing.

And $200 doesnt sound like its too much for the back plate of a phone (a couple ounces of aluminum)?

Thats as much as an iphone 3gs!

Apple might refurb it for you. Not sure for how much though.

Do you have any other issues with the phone? Dead pixels, dust under the screen, light bleed, weird behavior etc.

They might swap it for a non-cosmetic reason if you have one, or can convince them you do hehe.

ebay as them for very cheap. 5-10 dollars but you will lose your serial numbers and all other things on the back of it.
