I have the original iTrip that I bought for my original iPod.

I wanted to try it with my iPhone 4 in the car since I sold my deck and the stock car stereo does not have AUX or Bluetooth.

This is the device I am talking about if someone is unfamiliar.

It connects to the iPod via the 3.5mm headphone jack. The new iTrip devices seem to connect to the 30 pin connector.

I plug it in but the light doesn't activate and nothing happens on the phone. I tuned to the correct radio station and played a song but I just got static.

Uh... how were you able to plug it in at all, there is that 4-pin side connector in the way?

It can be turned sideways.

That other piece is not a connecter. It's just plastic that goes into the FireWire port of the original iPod. It's just for keeping the iTrip secure.

lol.

Sure? Is been a while but that's not where the accessory gets its power?

So OK that's just a plastic tab, so this thing is self-powered, battery good? all charged up?
