I'm having trouble remembering if the first date released by Apple was a date range or 4/24 exactly?

The launch date is 4/24. The first wave of preorders were promised to arrive between 4/24 and 5/8.
Did they say that about the first wave before ordering though?
I'm having trouble thinking that I'd of stayed up until 3am to order a watch with that delivery window and don't know if I'm either losing my memory or didn't know about it in the first place.
I know, which really makes me wonder why one would not include the other for people who ordered within the first hour, or even half hour.
I'm not going to complain endlessly but if they can't deliver a product on launch day to someone who ordered within the first 10 minutes of it's pre-order availability then I have to think it was never really available to launch in the first place.
Pre ordering two weeks early, to get a delivery window two weeks in length, that doesn't make a lot of sense either.
