When I had purchased the iPhone 4 this past March, it was already preloaded with iOS 4.2.1. The battery was excellent and the phone performed beautifully. My question is was the launch day iOS 4.0 as bad on battery life as iOS 5.0 on my 4S is? Also, if so, how many updates did it take for bugs, battery life, etc... to be fixed? TIA

On my iP 4, I hadn't seen any significant difference in overall battery life between iOS 4 and iOS 5.

The 4S uses perhaps slightly more power (even Apple says standby is 200 hrs vs. 300 hrs but 3G talk time is longer), but not a substantial amount more. Maybe 10% worse.

I've noticed no difference in battery life between the 4S and 3GS.

The battery capacity wasn't increased until iPhone 4 which was known for great battery life. The 3GS wasn't. Comparing the 3GS to the 4S isn't to comforting.
