real story:
i was jogging in a very nice neighborhood today and saw some think different posters waiting on the curb to be trashed.

being the mac fanatic that i am i couldn't let them go. so i bought them home. there are 3 posters, a gandhi, ansel adams, and hitchcock - all with the rainbow apple logo on them. i quickly googled the posters and saw to my dismay there are a lot of reproductions floating around. i measured them they are all 24" x 36" - and the copyright logos look legit.

unfortunately they are not mint. the original owner had them pasted onto thick cardstock - i guess to display. there is a logo of the framing company on the back of the posters, a small shop in rhode island, so i imagined this was "professionally done". however they used screws with wires to mount them, and after time some of the pressure has eroded onto the poster, causing two pressure points that can be seen in the front.

so my question, are these originals? or just reproductions?

i've uploaded photos. let the debate begin!

junk yard trash, or treasure?

They look genuine to me as well! If you want me to trash them for you, I'll be glad to do so :D

Do you like them? Are you going to hang them on your wall and enjoy them? There is your answer ;)

They will never be as valuable to collectors if they are mounted and have som tears and dents. But for your pleasure they are very valuable right?

To buy these, even in your posters condition, would still cost a bunch of $$$.

Ansel and Gandhi are hard to find...congratulations!! NICE FIND!!

cool

thanks for the replies, as i look at them more and more, i'm convinced they are the real deal.

they are beautiful and as a mac head (who owned the original Bondi Blue iMac, and original iPod) they are very cool. so i had to save them! but, the wife, maybe not so much.

we have young kids, so i'm afraid they will love them in a crayon/wet hands kind of way.

The real Deal

These are the real deal. Apple used to give these to vendors and other tech related company personnel. At one time Apple was very open on their campus and I do not believe they are that open today, but a friend of mine who is a programmer for Oracle gave me a set of Think Different posters from one of his campus visits. The posters you found were a part of this set which included 9 posters: Baez, Ghandi, Picasso,Turner, Earhart, Graham, Hitchcock, Callas, Edison, all 24x36
At around the same time educators were give a smaller set of ten 11x17 posters in a box with the Here's to the crazy ones poem on it. It has some of the same people featured in them.

From one I understand they are recently gaining in worth, but I have yet to find a good place to sell mine.

Nice find, I always dream that as I drive by or run by a yard sale I'll find a near pristine Mac 128k for sale for 20 bucks :)

Looks like you hit gold in your find

I love that Ansel Adams poster. I've got originals of the Einstein and Ghandi 24x36 posters but I'd love to have the Ansel Adams one too.

Amazing find.

Think different Gandhi Poster

I have a Think different poster of Gandhi from 1997.
I brought it from Holland, the size is actually bigger 46.7" x 69".
Can anyone tell me what it is worth??
Pls let me know 'cause I'm planning to sell it.

I never saw the Think Different posters or ad campaign before, sorry for the not too amazing post and newish user comment but they are awesome! A lot, lot, lot cooler than some of the boring stuff Apple has come out with in the last few years I've been paying attention.

Buzz Aldrin Think Different poster

I have a 50X50":) Buzz Aldrin Think Different Poster. Is it worth anything?

Think Different Posters

After a four decade career as an educator starting in high school and ending at the university level; as of July 1st, I am officially retired. In 1997, I received two complete sets of the Think Different 11x17 posters. Three weeks ago, I removed them from the classroom wall where they were displayed since '97. I would say they are in pristine condition and looking for a new home. Message me at: tmac70@charter.net if interested.

Time for the Antique Road Show :)

"Think Different" was what initially drove me to the Mac, although it took some years after this campaign before I could actually afford one.

Rutgers computer labs had many Macs running classic and they were like Mercedes compared to the PC junk in the labs.

This is so ironic - Yesterday my neighbor was doing a landscaping job on the East Side of Providence, RI, and the owner of the house asked him if he wanted some old stuff he was getting rid of - your 3 posters were part of the haul. When my neighbor got home from work he knocked on my door and said knowing what a MacHead I am he brought me a present - I am now the proud owner of your 3 posters - they are still in the exact condition as you described. Love them!
