Hi, I have an origional 2008 MBA and the battery has deteriated thanks to being left on charge more now my iPad is used on the road. I was going to replace the battery myself as it seems to be around £50 for a battery to DIY vs. £99 for apple to undo a few screws for me.

The question I have is can I replace the A1237 5400nmh battery with the 5600nmh version used in the A1304 late 2009 model or is the connector or something different? Or machine not recognise/ other error?

Anyone got any ideas or experience please? All help welcome!

I wouldn't trust or recommend any non-Apple battery, due to the number of problems reported with "knockoff" batteries. Also, there is no assurance that knockoff batteries have the same charging technology that Apple uses, involving the battery, the MagSafe adapter and the Mac's logic board.

Thanks for the speedy response, I do share the same concern about an "EBay Battery"..... will see if i can find a reputable source for parts only... maybe a local Apple Authorised Reseller.... I'm guessing the apple store won't just sell the part... any one got nay suggestions?

Will defiantly go with the 2009 version... seems my MBA is now saying "Not Charging" all the time so will need to replace sooner rather than later
