I need information about my PCI Wi-Fi card and OS X. I have a Lombard (without built-in wireless) that I would like to upgrade to Panther, from OS 9.0.

It's an ORINOCO Gold Card, 11Mbits/s from Lucent Technologies. The fact that ORINOCO has been manufactured by so many companies doesn't help. What I believe to be the model number is PC24E-H-FC.

Are there drivers for this card that work with Panther? I can't find any information about this on their site.

You'll find drivers at www.ioxperts.com .

Took me forever to find it on my own, but it works great. I'm using an Orinoco Silver, and I believe I saw the "gold" on the list of supported devices.

Works great!

Thanks, but I was trying to find one supported by the company, and free. I don't like having to pay extra for drivers for a product that I paid for. I guess I will try this if I am unable to find anything else. I'll let you know how the search goes.

There wasn't one supported by the manufacturer when I looked about 6 months ago.

The driver was only $20, pretty reasonable.

ioxperts gives you 30 minutes each time you "reboot." However, if you just power the card down, eject it, and reinstall it, it works every time. No lost time, no reboot required.

I finally gave up and paid, because it works so well.
