Hi, I have been having this problem for some time now, and it's becoming a HUGH issue.

It started when MS Outlook tried to update. It sees that there is an update, I download it, run it, and nothing happens, it just goes back to saying it needs the same update.

Now, I can not install any apps. I will download a .mpkg or a .pkg file, click on it to install and the installer app starts to open (bouncing icon), then stops and the app does not install. I have checked all the permissions, and done a permission repair. I also did the following: 1) check System Preferences/Security/General to allow downloaded applications from anywhere? 2) tried creating a new account, give that account admin privileges, and see if you can install the app while logged into that account.
Still nothing.

It seems like the "Installer App" is corrupted. What can I do to fix this problem, I need to be able to install apps.

Is there a way to reinstall the "Installer App"?

I'm running a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2008, Serial Number W88290F8YJY, Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

Please Help, Thanks,
Dave
