Beta 1 wasn't too bad for me. Got through the day no problem, even with a workout thrown in the mix. I know betas are likely to incur additional battery load as apps are in 'debug mode', etc, so consider this more of a 'heads up' to anyone else considering these betas.

Installed beta 2 and since then my watch has been chewing through battery like it's a feast of chocolate pudding. I charge overnight, so when I get up it's at 100%. Put on my watch around 8:30am. It's now 11am and my Apple Watch Ultra is at 62%.

Gonna have to resort to intraday charging until this gets resolved :-/

No issues with beta 2 here. If anything improved from beta 1, but that is just perception. AWU if that helps.

tried restarting?

Good to hear it's not affecting everyone.

Yeah, I restarted it shortly after I posted. It's been on my charger since then (to get it back to 100%). Gonna put it back on my wrist and see if that resolved the issue.

That seems to have fixed the battery drain. However, curiously, even though it sat on the charger for a 3 hours, it only reportedly charged to 76%. I'll see what happens overnight.

On the charger 8 hours and it’s still registering as 78% charged. Either something is preventing it from charging all the way for some reason, or could be a bug with the reporting mechanism.

Ah, looks like it was an ‘optimized charge’ setting.

Well you are obviously a developer as the betas so far have only been released to registered developers....

so of course with respect theres not much point worrying about battery life or performance at this stage as its not even in public beta yet and as a developer you understand of course the risks associated with installing developer-only betas.

I am a developer. I am also registered.

Also, as a member of the community I think it's appropriate to share issues that others may come across along with additional workarounds/corrections/observations, which is what I did here.

well thats exactly what I said.

My point is, though, that I wouldnt be worrying too much about battery life on developer beta 2.

Agreed. Early beta performance profiles are rarely indicative of how the finished product is going to behave.
