Given the upcoming release of lion, i know that there has been much anticipation as to what next is going to come from apple. Honestly i do no understand why apple continues to dwell on OS X with sub versions as on that build and release it as a new operating system

do you think that there will be a OS 11? what do think it will feature?

I think that OS 11 will some time come and unite iOS with OS X. I don't think we will see it happening in the next 5 years.

This feels like us talking about the iPhone 6 before we've seen the iPhone 5 but if you must, I see OS 11 being iOS on a large screen.

I agree that it will merge OSX and iOS, but I can see it happening in the next 3-5 years.

I think if they're going to take away a true file system and other features that we don't have on our phones and iPads, then they best go slow and steady on that one. There will be a rift in the force if you try to push it out in the next year. Getting us used to this idea with the phone and pad is a good step, I'm still not sold on never needing a true file system because I still run upstairs frequently to use my Mac Pro and my work has no love for my iPad.

3-5 years is slow and steady, no?

I don't think that it'll be iOS all the way. It'll be a merging of the two OSs (OSes?). It's totally possible that there will still be a file system of some sort. Or perhaps the OS will behave a little differently on a mobile device than it will on a Mac.

I just think we'll see Apple touting the "simplicity and elegance" of one OS for all of their devices.

I agree. My feeling is that it will slowly migrate to a more iPadesque OS, however this won't happen overnight. Users would not appreciate the quick switch.

I reckon (hope) OS X has some legs left in it.
