Hi all -

I'm new to this discussion board, but I'm glad I found it because you all seem like decent folk here.

I am having enormous problems getting my iMac to acknowledge the existence of my 128mb Smartmedia card. It recognises the reader in Apple System Profiler, but the card doesn't show up anywhere on the desktop. I have followed all of Apple's advice on USB devices; restarting the machine with extensions off, upgrading the firmware, etc. etc.

I am using MacOS 8.6.1 on an iMac 333Mhz. I have downloaded Apple's mass storage drivers, everything. The card reader is fully compatible with 8.6, the smartmedia card is formatted and inserted correctly.. . . .

If anybody can advise me on this, I will be so very happy, as I can't access my digital photos and it is really, really annoying. I thought USB was meant to cut out all of this nonsense:)
