I bought a Pismo that on bootup gave the question mark folder error so using target disk mode I replaced the system folder with one from a Classic installation. Now I get a bootup error that flicks between the Finder icon in a folder and the question mark.

What's the difference between the two errors?

The System Folder may not be "blessed". This can be simple to fix, if you can boot up from another Mac, again connected to the Pismo in Target disk mode. Drag the Finder and System out the the System Folder, then Drag both back in place.
Then, try booting to the pismo.
If that still doesn't boot, you may need the correct Mac OS ROM file in the System Folder.
There's a wealth of information about OS 9, etc, HERE . Go to the user forums on that site for just about any question that you have about Classic Mac OS.

Blessing didn't work :( I am just going to download a universal installer instead.

Thank you though, I learned something. :)
