You can't, current Powerbooks aren't OS 9 bootable. Your Powerbook came with a full version of OS 9 (and on the restore disks) but the Powerbooks firmware doesn't support booting in to OS 9, you can only use it for classic.

Finiksa is right. Additionally, OS 9 isn't available through the Apple Store. You might be able to get replacement Software Restore disks from Apple though.

I think OS 9 is free now

It is and it isn't free. Call them and ask for the legacy store.

Duff-Man says....curious, where did you get the idea it was free? It is not by the way. OS 7.5.3 can be freely downloaded from Apple but nothing beyond that.

You can buy copies from MacResQ but I would think you'd be able to find better prices elsewhere, like eBay for instance....oh yeah!

netboot image can be haxored... :D

Apple offers a free os 9 netboot image on their site somewhere. It's hard to find and i have the link at work, but that can easily be extracted from that form..... if one were so inclined....

Duff-Man says...yes...I believe this is the one you mean and yes, I would read the license agreement carefully before "hacking" it for a purpose it was not intended for....oh yeah!

That's where I got the idea: 7.5 is free.. guess I'm wrong?
