Hey all,

I have an early 2008 MBP and starting yesterday I have not been able to get OS to boot. I have a windows partition that boots with no problem, although I'm not sure what that means it seems good. I have tried pretty much every reset tactic that I know exists to no avail. I tried booting from CD which caused a kernel panic. This all started when I was carrying the computer through the house and the battery died (I have the original battery which normally lasts 3 mins unplugged). I am avoiding taking it to the apple store for as long as possible so please don't recommend that unless you genuinely think it is the only option.

Thank you!

Why would you avoid that, if it can solve your problem? If you can't boot at all, there's not much you can do, apart from taking it to Apple.
