I have a old laptop: iBook G4. I want to turn it into a file server. I have a copy of os x tiger server and would like some instructions on how to set it up so all my computers are connected with user accounts on the file server. I want user folders also. Any help?
Thanks, IMcD23

You might want to look in the OS X Server section of the forum.

Setting up OS X Server is a little outside the scope of a single forum post.
How many users? Do you have a DNS server already?

You're better off looking at Apple's support site/pdfs.

1. I don't think the iBook meets the minimum specs of MacOS server (it won't install).

2. You can accomplish just about the same thing if you turn on file sharing on it. You can still add the user accounts on it and add them to the access list. When the user connects to the volume he/she will be prompted for a password and if they check the box to remember, it will be added to their keychain.

I think for Tiger you may need a 3rd party utility called "SharePoints" in order to share out directories not in the user's home directory. In Leopard you don't need it.
