I downloaded my free OS X 10.7 Lion upgrade a few weeks ago and since that time have been moving stuff and finding replacement software for PPC apps from my old G4 iMac so haven't been able to install it yet. I've read that the 10.7.1 update is available through Software Update and that the version in the Mac App Store has also been updated to 10.7.1. I just assumed that once I got Lion installed that I would get the 10.7.1 update from Software Update and that was how updates would be handled. Well, today I noticed that there was a "1" indicator on the Mac App Store in my Dock so I clicked it to see what it was and under Updates is was showing a update for OS X Lion. If I click the Update button it wants to download OS X 10.7.1, all 3.76 GB of it, that's an over 13 hour download on my low-end DSL. Is this for real? Is each update of Lion going to entail a full download every time? What about OS X updates through Software Update have they been discontinuesd?

OK, are you currently on 10.7?

If so, click the Apple at the top menu and click Software Update. It should download a delta update, not the complete 3+GB.

No, I haven't installed 10.7 yet, the installer is sitting in my Applications folder at the present time.

Then the quickest way to do this would be to simply install 10.7 and run Software Update to accomplish the Delta update.

If that option is available then why is MAS pushing out a 3.76GB download to do the same thing? Are we sure that Software Update is going to continue to be available?

What do you expect? You expect it to mend your current download?

The store is hosting one version of any app at any time. Consistency, see?

Just install it and run Software Update.

Okay, if you say so....
