I just recently upgraded my imac (2Ghz intel core 2 duo, 3 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDram) from leopard to snow leopard. Since then I've noticed some things have been running slower and i've been getting a lot of "applications not responding". I've even noticed that certain video files or flash games have been lagging. I plan on maxing out my ram to 4gb asap but I'm wondering if there is anything else i can do to speed up my computer.

How much free space do you have on the startup disk?
Control or right click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click "Get Info". Under the General tab you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is at least 10% available disk space, 15% is better.

Well its not due to lack of space. Here is another thing to try:
run disk utility (applications > utilities > disk utility) click verify permissions to make sure the drive directory is okay if any errors appear try to repair permissions.
