a couple of people i know upgraded to 10.1.5 yesterday, but they had to do 10.1.3 and 10.1.4 before they could do 10.1.5

so whats going on?? i thought 10.1.5 was a combined update? or are there different versions?

yeah there are heaps of diff version, I had the update from 10.1.2 to 10.1.5

10.1.5 Combined...

I just reinstalled OS X. There is a combined update through software update going from 10.1 to 10.1.5 without any of the other .1.1-.1.4 updates. However, you still have to do the installer update and the security update from the fall of last year to get it to show up.

There were also some problems with the 10.1.5 combo update right after the Software Update security patch came out. If you applied the patch before you ran the combo update, when the installation location preference screen came up, all of my drives were grayed out.

However, I found that if I blew it all away, installed the combo update, *then* applied the Software Update security patch, everything was just fine. This may have changed since Saturday though, if they hadn't gotten around to signing all of the packages by then.

That is only a problem if you download the software installer form of the update... If you use software update, the problem doesn't exist...

so if you get the 10.1.5 update from 'software update' and install that, then the security update, there will be no problems, this right?
