OS X 10.6.3 - and HP8290 flatbed scanner

Hi

Just purchased a new iMac with OS X 10.3.6

I have a HP8290 flatbed scanner that is not recognised by the OS. I have checked HP website for suitable download and have been informed that drivers will be available in Spring 2010. Well, it's now Summer and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and managed to get the iMac to recognise my scanner.

The first thing that you should do is run Software Update. This will update your OS to MacOS X 10.3.9. Many software titles will not run on anything older.
