OS X 10.7 Lion, Mouse forward/back buttons not working

Just upgraded to 10.7 Lion, and all seems well except the back/forward thumb buttons on my Microsoft Sidewinder X8 are not working. I've got Intellipoint 8.0.1 installed and it says the buttons are mapped appropriately. I've tried Steermouse too, no luck it just says "configurable mouse not found". Any other ideas?

It looks as though the forward and back buttons are doing the same thing as pressing down the wheel button.

Updated to the latest version of Steermouse and that fixed the problem.
