Hi,

Using Firefox 2.0.0.7, and Google Mail, I received an attachment from a friend. It was a Word Document. It downloaded and when I opened it, I only could see 1/2 of it. There was an option to view in Google Docs too. Same result. I went to my wifes XP box and had no problems downloading the Word doc and also opening it up separately in Google Docs.

How can I open it properly in OSX??

>>Text Edit will open Word files. What are you using?<<

I'm using Microsoft Word. I also had an option via the e-mail to open using Google Docs. I actually opened the attachment with both. Neither opened the document properly on the Mac. But both did using the PC with XP. I used Word 2003 on the PC as well as Google Docs via Firefox on the PC.

TextEdit will open MS Word 6 files and I'm not sure what level Google Docs will open, but I suspect nothing newer than Office 97/98.

If the file was created with MS Office X, 2002/2003, or 2004, it's not likely compatible.

Save it as an Office 97 file or Rich Text File format and it should be fine.
