I have a great monitor that I connect to my MacBook Air as an external monitor and run at 1080p resolution. The problem is, Mac OS X automatically applies the image too "zoomed in," meaning there is about a half-inch cut off on all four sides. The Displays preference pane in System Preferences allows me to set the "Underscan" slider to "zoom out" until I get a near-perfect fit. The problem is that the text and image quality is super crisp when the underscan is off (fully "zoomed out"). Is there a way to get a correct fit on my monitor without using underscan and reducing the display quality? Thanks!
