Hello,

I recently bought a used Macbook Pro (A1212). I received it with no battery (on the way), and a dead harddrive (booted to folder question mark).

I replaced the hard drive with a new one and tried booting up the DVD. When pressing option during startup, I'm given the option to boot the dvd. I click on it and I can hear the DVD whirr for a couple minutes, apple logo shows up, then a loading circle on the bottom of it, eventually the logo turns into a Deny Circle.

What could this mean? The DVD is in tip top condition.
