This happened to my dock in a session last week, I love the effect and wanted to keep it, but once I rebooted it disappeared. Please check the attached screen shot to see what I am talking about. Can anyone explain what has happened here, and if it would be possible to re-create?

Yeah, it happened to me yesterday which led me to moving my dock to the left. It feels better that way too...

As for re-creating it, I think removing the image files from System/CoreServ/Dock/Resources and killall Dock in terminal would do the trick. I don't recommend it unless you back up the original files.

Aha, yeah does look pretty cool but i wouldn't recommend either looks like a bug and wouldnt want to tamper with it, my rule is do not delete OS X system files, always brings bad luck look for some mods (add ons) instead you may be able to find some cool ones.
This could cause some serious damage though.

Rgds.
