Guys is build number 11A511 the latest LION that can be updated and behaves like a consumer version?

And will a F4 key with dashboard logo work as mission control in lion?

Yes, my build number (bought from App Store) is 11A511, so if I understand you right, what you have is the same. Also, you can go into system preferences -> keyboard -> keyboard shortcuts -> Mission Control and set it to F4. You cannot set the F4 hot key to Mission Control as far as I know, so you would get dashboard without fn and mission control if you hold fn while pressing F4.

Why do you need the build number? Just go to app store and that will be the latest Lion unless you plan to get a pirate version.

Yo ho, yo ho.

Also, it's not like there aren't already torrents of the final release up. BUT DON'T PIRATE SOFTWARE, PLUS IT'S ONLY $30, WHO IS THAT CHEAP THEY WON'T PAY $30 FOR AN OS.

I'd be more inclined to, if I hadn't given apple $1200 for this comp a mere month before lion was announced. I say it should be free for all 2011 mbps.

If you bought after june 6th you have a free updrage.

+1 but apple doesn't work that way :(

I’m trying to figure out how this thread turned into a thread about pirated software.

"it's only $30" isn't a good argument - people pirate $0.99 iPhone apps.

The same way all of the rest of the software threads do: when someone mentions price, they always evolve into a 'Pirate's of the Caribbean' adventure.

And the people who do so are a bunch of losers. I'm sure they've "justified" it to themselves somehow too, to try and not feel like the scum-bags that they are.

I'm all for protecting the rights of someone's intangible property, but I wouldn't go so far as to call people who download something without consent "a bunch of losers" or "scumbags". You sound a little like the RIAA ;)

Someone who can't pay $0.99 for an app or song is a loser, and they should reevaluate their decision to have a Mac, you shouldn't have a $1000+ laptop if a few dollars is going to break you; scumbag might be a little harsh(I still feel that they are), but cheap pos is a perfect description. Same holds true for CS5.5/Office/Windoze, if you don't think it's worth what Adobe/Microsoft charges for it, then don't buy it; just because it's "expensive" it doesn't make stealing it okay in any form. Purebred dogs(paid apps) are expensive, it doesn't mean you should steal one, you go to the humane society and get a free/next-to-free dog(freeware).

They should get a job, move out of your mom's basement, and buy what you want.

When I finish my degree at my top 50 university, I will have a good job and give way more money to Apple than necessary, I'm sure. As for now, I'm enjoying Lion. :)

lol... tis hilarious

<grabs popcorn>

on a serious note i can see why ppl pirate movies when they will only watch the thing a few times.. as for lion.. this is an osx and it is something one would use every time u boot u're mac up - come on peeps it $30 for god's sake!

I'll just go steal a M3 from a dealership, later on in life I'll buy a lot of BMWs.

When you take a physical item from someone, you are depriving someone else of those materials. Your analogy is useless.

Also, I'm a student who missed out on the Lion announcement by one month, and also missed out on the back to school $100 credit. Others have whined and gotten Apple to make exceptions and ship them free $70 keyboards and such. It's not that serious.

^ This.

An argument can be made that if you truly weren't going to buy a certain piece of software anyway and you have no commercial use for it (i.e. you're not making money with it), it's not really theft to download it without consent. Is something stolen if there is no victim from whom something was stolen from?
