OS X Lion is download-only?

I've done a quick search wondering when this thing is coming out, and it seems apple is forcing people to purchase Snow Leopard so that they can download Lion from the Mac App store. Is that true?

Is there really no update to iMacs and others that will have Lion pre-installed?

If that's the case, I may as well go get a new iMac now.

I see.. sorry for the repost then.

I guess I'll have to get Snow Leopard in order to get the App Store. I guess all that's left now is to see if there is a new iMac version coming out anytime soon. Wouldn't want to get one, then find a new one released next month.
