Hey folks,

I am wanting to run up a VM with OS X Lion for x-platform testing purposes, and also for the xcode compiler and IOS emulation. I was wondering if Apple provide a way to purchase install media for this OS without the requirement for an existing Snow Leopard install (as it is through the app store), as this will be pretty much a bare-metal install.

Thanks in advance

You could purchase parallels desktop 7 (www.parallels.com/desktop) and download the software. Assuming you have Mac OS X Lion installed on your machine, you should be able to install a Lion VM using the recovery partition on your hard drive without buying the software from Apple.
This is also useful as it allows you to fun other operating systems in a Virtual Environment (eg Windows / Linux) without rebooting your machine.

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but it may solve the issue.
