Anybody know what could be causing this ...?

As of the past 24 hours, my os/x login screen on my G4 seems like it's only displaying 256 colors or less.

When one of us logs in, the color/detail problem goes away immediately. Also, if we don't log out and use 'fast user switching' to go back to the login screen, it looks smooth and normal.

The only things I could think of that might have triggered this would be upgrading to 10.3.7 (from 10.3.6) or using Onyx to clean out the system cache the other day.

Hmm. Tried that, which slowed things down so I noticed the entire 'booting up' screen is stuck in a low-color, low-resolution display. But it didn't fix anything.

It just seems like the system isn't accessing the proper display settings until after a login. New and weird.
