I have OS X 10.8.4. I use the OS X Mail app for my email (Gmail). I use default Gmail settings.
For some reason a few months ago I noticed some of my Gmail emails were going directly to my trash folder. They never appeared in the inbox, nor did I delete them. I assumed Apple had created some sort of smart filtering that was auto deleting them because they appeared to be the regular emails that I tended to delete after reading them for a few seconds (legit emails but not worth reading or the subject was enough to read). For example a MacRumors email (if I has subscribed to a thread) will go to the trash now because I would click on a link the link and delete it.
It appears that more and more emails are now going to the trash automatically. They still appear to the be regular common emails (daily crap) and not personal emails from friends.
I have not made any changes to junk mail and have not set any rules (simply default when setting up Mail with Gmail).
The only mod I have ever done to Gmail is to set the actual Gmail Trash and Sent folders under the Menubar's 'Mailbox>Use this mailbox for' as the primary mail boxes in Mail. I.e. so 'Sent' in Mail is the sent in my Gmail (and same with trash). I have done this for years with no issues.
It is starting to get irritating as more and more 'semi-junk' mail is going directly to trash. Although it is clearly not junk, nor is it labeled as junk. I can even see the numerical indicator on my trash folder that it contains say 4 unread emails because they have gone directly there.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of 'intelligent filtering' that may have been clicked on in preferences? Or is it possibly something with Gmail?
Any other suggestions?
P.S. I have included some possible relevant window shots.
