I have a strange issue with my MacBook Pro (bought in Aug 2010, 13" Intel Core2Duo CPU). For some reason OSX got stuck, had to do a hard reboot and since then OS X won't boot anymore. However, WinXP on my Bootcamp partition boots fine.
Also, when trying to boot OS X, I can hear a tick and the HD seems to make more noise than before. The tick repeats itself every 5 secs, but after 30 seconds or so the ticking and noise stop. The Apple logo and spinning wheel are visible, but nothing seems to load. Again, booting in WinXP does not give any ticking or extra noise.
I've tried booting in Safe Mode (won't load either), resetting NVRAM, doing the Hardware Test, but that one seems to get stuck too, accompanied by the ticking. I don't have the original software with me (and won't have access to them for another 4 weeks). I used a downloaded copy of OS X Lion (burnt in WinXP with TransMac), but booting into this DVD doesn't work either.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can find out what the problem is? Or how to get OS X to work again? Any ideas on how to get a bootable DVD image of OS X Snow Leopard or Lion if I don't have access to a Mac? I'm OK with doing a clean install, I have a TimeMachine backup back home (where I'll be in 4 weeks), so can copy all my music, videos etc back to computer then..
Thanks for any tips!
