Hello!

I have just ordered a 15" MBP with the slow 750GB HDD, and I'm planning to manually install a SSD someday.

My question is: When I eventually buy the SSD, how can I install the OS to the SSD when lion will only be available from the AppStore?

Also, I ordered the MBP 3 days ago and it says it has been sent, and I am starting to think I should have get the SSD instead. Is there any way to change the order now?

Thanks in advance.

I came across this today.

It's still a bit unclear will there be an official solution for this but you can create a bootable disc from the original installer and use that.

If the Mac has been shipped already, then you cannot change the order anymore. You have to wait for it to delivered and then you have to return it and wait for the new one. Not worth it IMO, go with 3rd party SSD.

I think the idea is you reinstall snow leopard, then upgrade to lion, every time you want to reinstall. Once you have purchased, there is no need to purchase again.

Thanks for the fast answers!

I guess I will go for a third party SSD like hellhammer said, considering that I live in Norway and have to wait 2 weeks before the machine arrives in the first place.

Wow.. It's actually pretty sad I didn't think of that :p I guess this will be the easiest solution for me as a first time Mac user.
