OS X randomly shutting down, adapter light flashing ambe and green

My OS X is randomly shutting down when the adapter is not plugged in even though there is battery left, the adapter light is flashing amber and green and never stays either just amber or green. Anyone any ideas why? Is the battery totally gone?

Two things to try:

1. Try resetting your System management Controller (SMC):

You might also want to reset your PRAM while you're at it. Can't hurt:

2. Download a utility to check your battery's health, like Coconut Battery:

http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/

This will tell you what the battery thinks is left in its capacity, and give you an idea of what your battery's health looks like.

I downloaded the coconut battery utility and it seems my battery isn't very healthy at all, its capacity is 313mAh from an original of 5020!!! think its new battery time
