So I am currently setting up a home server for pretty much everything except mail (due to reliability issues - as in I can't risk people being unable to send me mail if the server is down). I started using Mavericks Server, but had to reinstall twice (first time was a problem with OD, second time something got messed up and it refused to boot).

This led me on to research more about OS X Server and noticed Apple seems to have been removing some features with each version. So my question is, which version of OS X Server is the best - Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks?

If anyone has a link or information on what features were added and removed in each version that would be awesome!

Thank you :)
