OSX 10.6.8 loses and doesn't save Preferences for Appearance and Keyboard

Hi guys

My Macbook Pro 2.66 Intel Core Duo with OS 10.6.8 loses my Preferences for Appearance (color, highlight, scroll arrows, font sizes for text smoothing) and Keyboard (Standard key functions, illuminate) on a daily basis. I have to go back in there change everything, then a few minutes or a few hours later it resets the Preferences again. It seems to be random and not linked to any specific action or program (I tested it).
What can I do?
