OSX Dock - Sort / Group

I'd like to know if there is a way to have my apps sorted / grouped in the dock.

In particular I have my dock along the left side of my screen. I'd like to have it so that all my running apps are grouped together at the top of the bar.

Anyone know of a way I can do that?
