About a month ago I installed OSX on my G4. I have two internal IBM deskstar harddrives. One of them had to be repaired in the past.
Here is my current problem. For a few weeks now it seems that when the computer goes to sleep it will not come out of sleep without restarting.
Yesterday, it wouldn't restart at all. After trying to start from the OSX CD, the only thing that would work was to start from the OS9 CD. Then I was able to change the boot drive to the correct drive, OSX and restart. Everything was great.
And then, this morning it totally died. I couldn't start in OSX. After trying various things I was able to get it to start up with the OS9 CD and recognize one of the my drives. Then I installed OS9 on the one drive.
However, the one drive is only regonized in OS9. In the disk utility the other drive comes up as an ATA drive but can't be recognized.
The worst part is that when I try to start up OSX by either using the Disk Warrior CD or by trying to installl OSX to the one drive that OS9 sees, it sees neither drive.
I have a feeling that if I can at least install OSX on the one drive, maybe OSX would see the other drive.
Any help on my dilemma would be greatly appreciated as my Apple Care has run out.
(Also, I have purchased another drive online that is coming in a couple of days. I figure worse comes to worse, I'll just install OSX on that drive. There's some media that I'll lose on the one drive, but since the project using that media is done, it shouldn't be too bad.)
