OSX formatted FAT32 external HD to work on windows?

I formatted one of my external hard drives in OSX (with the disk utility) to the FAT32 standard so I could access the files on my Vista machine. Although Windows recognizes the drive when I connect it, the drive never shows up in My Computer. Anyone have any idea what the problem is and/or how to fix it?

that sure is a weird issue you are experiencing.
I have that exact same setup and it didn't work the first time (under xp) for me neither, so I formatted the drive once again and after that it miraculously worked.

Good to know I'm not the only one who's had this problem. I cannot take your approach though; the drive is full and I would much rather not delete it.
