OSX have build in FTP under terminal

the FTP service under terminal is similar to UNIx version? the unix commands will work right?

Should be exactly the same. And remember, you can use ssh, sftp, scp and all other commandline favourites... remember: Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD, and is infact a full blown Unix system...

Use man ftp to see if there are any idiosyncrasies... there usually are...

OSX Is a Unix. It's based off BSD.
