my buddy just got a new mac book and you know how it comes with the osx install dvd and applications disc? Well, my question is it possible to use that disc to reinstall osx on my g5? or would it not be possible because all the drivers for my comp may not be on it, like its specifically for macbooks?

It is machine specific, meaning it will only work on the same model MacBook.

I wouldn't. It will be several months still and we don't know that it will support PPCs.

Apple will probably let us know before they stop selling Leopard. If Snow Leopard doesn't support Power PC's, he can buy Leopard after he knows that for a fact.
