OSX Leopard, Column View freezing when previewing PDFs

Hi, my dad's Column view in Finder has been freezing when viewing a PDF.
When you click it, it shows the preview of the PDF.

Does anyone know why it has been freezing lately? it never happened before the last week (recently just installed 8GB of RAM 2x4GB).

Could RAM do this?
