I have misplace Mac OS X install disc when moving home.

I bought my MBP in late 2011.

Is there anyway to get the a disc or a copy of Lion so I can install it fresh on my new SSD I plan installing.

Id like a fresh install and not to copy the current HD to SSD.

ok, and if I purchased MountainLion, could I install that fresh on new SSD or is that just an upgrade package?

If you have the latest firmware update then you'll be able to install 10.7 by using "Internet Recovery". This should start automatically when you replace the drive.

As for 10.8, you'll be able to create your own install DVD or USB stick by extracting InstallESD.dmg; the steps are the same as for 10.7.

Basically the link 3 posts up say:

google search for: lion recovery disk assistant
download and run the tool (you will need a spare usb)
this usb will then become your recovery media.

hope that helps.

Ok great, and this will just be the OS, not any other programs that have been installed, just like a fresh OS.

Great:)
